Job description

Responsibilities:

  1. Read and interpret electrical blueprints, diagrams, and specifications to determine wiring layouts, circuit configurations, and installation requirements.
  2. Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, fixtures, switches, outlets, and appliances in accordance with local and national electrical codes and safety standards.
  3. Measure, cut, and bend electrical conduits and cables, and route them through walls, ceilings, and floors to connect electrical systems and components.
  4. Test electrical circuits and systems using testing devices, such as multimeters, voltage testers, and oscilloscopes, to identify and troubleshoot problems.
  5. Install and connect electrical panels, circuit breakers, transformers, and other control devices to power distribution systems and equipment.
  6. Install and configure lighting systems, including recessed lighting, track lighting, and LED fixtures, for interior and exterior applications.
  7. Perform preventative maintenance on electrical systems and equipment, including cleaning, lubricating, and inspecting components to ensure proper operation and safety.
  8. Respond to emergency service calls to repair electrical failures, outages, or malfunctions, and restore power to affected areas promptly and safely.
  9. Collaborate with contractors, engineers, and other tradespeople on construction projects to coordinate electrical installations and ensure compatibility with building plans and specifications.
  10. Provide guidance and training to apprentices and junior electricians, mentoring them in proper techniques, safety practices, and industry standards.

Requirements:

  1. Previous experience as an electrician or in a related electrical trade, with a strong understanding of electrical systems, components, and installations.
  2. Valid electrician’s license or certification issued by a recognized authority or governing body, demonstrating competency in electrical work.
  3. Knowledge of local and national electrical codes, regulations, and safety standards, and the ability to interpret and apply them in practice.
  4. Proficiency in using electrical tools and equipment, such as wire strippers, conduit benders, power drills, and cable testers, safely and effectively.
  5. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, following instructions, blueprints, and project specifications to complete electrical installations and repairs.
  6. Excellent troubleshooting skills and attention to detail in diagnosing electrical problems and implementing effective solutions.
  7. Physical stamina and dexterity to perform tasks requiring bending, kneeling, climbing, and lifting heavy objects, while maintaining safety and precision.
  8. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients, colleagues, and supervisors.
  9. Flexibility to work varying schedules, including evenings, weekends, and overtime, to accommodate project deadlines and emergency service calls.
  10. Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to safety regulations and procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and fall protection.
