Job description

The waiter plays a crucial role in delivering exceptional dining experiences to restaurant guests. They provide attentive and courteous service, take orders accurately, deliver food and beverages promptly, and ensure guest satisfaction throughout their dining experience.

Responsibilities:

  1. Greet guests warmly upon arrival, escort them to their tables, and present menus.
  2. Provide recommendations on menu items, specials, and beverage selections, based on guest preferences and dietary restrictions.
  3. Take food and beverage orders accurately, ensuring special requests or modifications are communicated to the kitchen staff.
  4. Enter orders into the POS (Point of Sale) system promptly and accurately, specifying any special instructions or guest preferences.
  5. Serve food and beverages promptly and efficiently, using proper serving techniques and adhering to presentation standards.
  6. Check on guests regularly to ensure satisfaction with their meals, address any concerns or requests promptly, and offer additional services as needed.
  7. Monitor table turnover and ensure timely seating of new guests during peak dining hours.
  8. Collaborate with kitchen and bar staff to coordinate order delivery and maintain smooth operations.
  9. Assist with setting up tables, arranging seating, and maintaining cleanliness and organization in the dining area.
  10. Process guest payments accurately, handle cash and credit card transactions, and reconcile receipts at the end of each shift.

Requirements:

  1. Previous experience as a waiter or server in a restaurant or hospitality setting is preferred.
  2. Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact politely and professionally with guests and colleagues.
  3. Strong customer service orientation and a desire to exceed guest expectations.
  4. Knowledge of food and beverage menu items, including ingredients, preparation methods, and presentation.
  5. Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  6. Attention to detail in accurately taking and delivering orders, handling payments, and maintaining cleanliness.
  7. Flexibility to work varying shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as per the restaurant’s schedule.
  8. Physical stamina to stand and walk for extended periods and lift trays or other items as needed.
  9. Team player mentality with a willingness to assist colleagues and contribute to a positive work environment.
  10. High school diploma or equivalent; additional training or certification in hospitality or food service is a plus.
