Job description

Responsibilities:

  1. Perform various manual labor tasks on construction sites, including digging trenches, mixing concrete, loading and unloading materials, and assisting skilled tradespeople.
  2. Operate hand tools and power tools safely and effectively, such as hammers, saws, drills, and jackhammers, to complete construction tasks as directed.
  3. Erect and dismantle temporary structures, scaffolding, and barricades to support construction activities and ensure safety compliance.
  4. Assist with site preparation and cleanup, including clearing debris, leveling surfaces, and removing hazardous materials, to maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  5. Transport materials, tools, and equipment to and from construction sites using trucks, wheelbarrows, or other vehicles, as needed.
  6. Follow established construction plans, blueprints, and specifications to ensure accurate implementation of project requirements and dimensions.
  7. Install and assemble building components, such as framing, drywall, roofing, and flooring, according to building codes and industry standards.
  8. Perform basic carpentry, masonry, or concrete work under the supervision of skilled tradespeople, including measuring, cutting, and fitting materials.
  9. Assist with concrete pouring, leveling, and finishing operations, including formwork setup and reinforcement placement, as required for concrete structures.
  10. Adhere to safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries on construction sites, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and following OSHA regulations.

Requirements:

  1. Previous experience in construction, building trades, or related fields is preferred but not required; on-the-job training may be provided.
  2. Physical strength and stamina to perform strenuous tasks, including lifting heavy objects, bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.
  3. Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced and dynamic construction environment.
  4. Familiarity with construction tools, equipment, and materials, and the ability to use them safely and proficiently.
  5. Basic math skills and understanding of measurements and dimensions to perform construction tasks accurately.
  6. Flexibility to work varying shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and overtime, as required by construction schedules and project deadlines.
  7. Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to safety regulations and procedures, including proper handling of hazardous materials and equipment.
  8. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to and from construction sites.
  9. High school diploma or equivalent; additional vocational training or certification in construction trades is a plus.
  10. Willingness to learn and develop new skills, advance within the construction industry, and pursue opportunities for career growth.
